The senator representing the Lagos East Senatorial District, Gbenga Ashafa, on Friday inaugurated an ICT centre at the Oreyo Grammar School, Ikorodu, urging youths in the area to create ICT hubs in Lagos East Division.
Ashafa added that information technology was the way the world was going, urging youths to make Ikorodu and other areas in the Lagos East ICT hubs.
Ashafa said, “There is no longer any doubt about the fact that the way to go is information technology.
“There is the need for young people in Ikorodu to make maximum use of the facilities provided in the ICT centre to develop themselves and the community.
“From silicon valley in the United States of America to Mumbai in India, young men and women are doing amazing things with the development of tech start ups. Multi-million dollar companies are being established in bedrooms and garages, creating contemporary online solutions. In Lagos State, amazing things are being done in the tech hub in Yaba. The question, therefore become; why not in Lagos East, why not Ikorodu?”
