Flour Mills of Nigeria Plc says its packaging company, popularly called BAGCO, has the potential to grow its earnings and boost its balance sheet given the huge demand for its product.
The Group Managing Director of the company, Mr. Paul Gbedebo, said this at his investiture by the Polymer Institute of Nigeria in Lagos.
He said the FMN Group consumed over 35,000 metric tonnes of polymeric materials annually, providing packaging solution to the tune of 300 million woven bags and tonnes of fils per annum.
According to the firm, BAGCO supports all the group’s packaging needs for business-to-business and business-to-consumer fast moving consumer goods.
Gbedebo added, “BAGCO is known for its innovation and appetite for state-of-art packaging technologies. This strategy is made possible by the flexible nature of plastic materials.
“It is on record that BAGCO pioneered the packaging of cement in woven sacks about 25 years ago. Today, it has become the standard not only in Nigeria, but beyond our shores.”
The National President, PIN, Dr. Paul Mamza, said the award of fellowship to Gbedebo was long overdue as he had contributed enormously to the development of the polymer industry.
